It had to happen – Angry Birds in the curriculum
When Angry Birds came out some of my colleagues found it hugely addictive and we joked about it’s relevance to the curriculum with suggestions that some day a teacher would find a way of integrating it. This week I heard about two examples and I have to eat humble pie. The examples actually make sense. On Wednesday I was working with the ICT advisor for the Isle of Man and he showed me examples of work that had been created in history lessons during the study of fortification and attack in the Middle Ages. The work was based on the lessons learnt in Angry Birds.
Then I saw an article about an Atlanta teacher using Angry Birds to teach Physics.
I think there is real potential to get real curricular outcomes from games such as Angry birds but do wonder when we will see out first degree course based on the game.
