iPad Apps for Education

I have been running some iPad workshops of late and there is a huge interest in their use in Education. However there is such a choice of iPad Apps that it is sometimes hard to find the really useful stuff. As a result of a recent email list question a number of Apple Distinguished Educators submitted their favourite Apps. Below is a PDF showing what has been used and is liked.

A hugely busy day with 6 sessions and two labs making it a 12 hour day in the Moscone centre. A huge amount of learning and interesting stuff. Some of the best stuff related to Mobile Device Management. This is a way an adminstrator can have complete over the air control of devices.

WWDC Day 1

The queue for the keynote started at 8pm on Sunday night by 6.30 am on Monday when I arrived due to my being unable to sleep it was 3 sides of a block around the Moscone centre. The wait was good natured and sort of fun in a masochistic way. The keynote had a couple of surprises FaceTime, iBooks update for the use PDF which has huge implications for education. In fact some of the more interesting stuff came after the keynote in developer sessions where the improvements iOS4 and in the developer tools look fantastic. Of and I forgot - iMovie for iPhone - brilliant absolutely brilliant.

T§his year Apple are issuing WWDC jackets - the thing to be seen in and plenty of them on show in San Fracisco Today.

Today is registration day for WWDC and in previous years this has been a leisurely affair on the Sunday but not for WWDC 2010 - there has a queue outside 1 hour before opening up time. There is the usual huge Apple logo on the Moscone centre but no clues from the visible signage in the centre as to any announcements.
