Q. I am having trouble working with the Digital Creator web site from within a firewall with content filtering. top

A. Sometimes content filters or firewalls can slow down the performance of the Digital Creator web site. The solution is to ask the web filtering administrator to add www.digitalcreator.org to the list of permitted sites - sometimes called the "white list". Experience has show that this vastly improves performance and stops lots of issues.

Q. Why is there no upload box for assignments? top

A. This could be because:

This is an offline task that does not need anything uploaded

You already uploaded something and the settings prevent resubmissions

Q. Why do my assignments fail to upload? top

A. There could be a number of reasons:

• The most common reason is because your file is too large. Each assignment has an upload limit indicated above the browse box. Check how big your file is before uploading. Mac - control click the file and Get info Windows - Right click the file and chose Properties.

• You might be trying to upload a file type that is not allowed. The types of file that are allowed are indicated in the assignments. For example you might be trying to upload an Audacity or GarageBand file.

Q. How can I see my recent assignment feedback? top

A. There are many ways you can access feedback.

• The most common method is simply by going to the same place where you uploaded the work.

• Another method is to follow the link in the recent activity block (if the tutor has included it on the course).

• Another method would be to access the grade book and then follow the link for the required assignment.

Q. When I click on the link to a Word document, it opens directly in the browser. How can I open it in MS Word so that I can edit, save and/or print it? top

A. PC Users: Right click on the link. Choose 'Save Target As'. Give the file a name and save it on the desktop or Y-drive, for example. Then go to the file and double-click on it to open it in Word. (NB: you cannot save to the desktop on the computer in any of the PC labs on campus, but you can save to your Y-drive or a memory stick on these PCs.)
